SUMMARY:Annual Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Richland County Farm Bureau and Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (Richland SWCD) are hosting a joint Annual Celebration on Thurs.\, Sept. 7. The Celebration will be held at the Kehoe Center\, located at 175 Mansfield Ave. in Shelby beginning at 6 p.m.\, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe Celebration is open to the public and includes dinner\, guest speaker Rev. Paul Lintern\, “Richland County is Rich Land\,” awards and organization updates. The cost is $20 per person and reservations are requested by Aug. 24. Reserve your ticket below. \n\n\n\nFarm Bureau members will vote on proposed policies\, which direct the programs and activities for the upcoming year\, local trustees\, and Ohio Farm Bureau Annual Meeting delegates. \n\n\n\nThe Celebration will also commemorate Richland SWCD’s 75th year and being named Ohio’s District of the Year.  The Cooperator of the Year and Volunteer of the Year will be recognized. \n\n\n\nEligible voters may cast their vote for two open Richland SWCD Board Supervisor positions from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The candidates are Brian Alt\, Rick Novak and Greg Timberlake. Absentee voting begins Aug. 9\, and closes Sept. 7\, at 12 p.m. at the Richland SWCD office. Election information is below.  \n\n\n\nWe’re looking forward to celebrating with you September 7. Make sure you make your reservation for this special evening by August 24.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBoard Supervisor Election Information \n\n\n\nThe Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission will cause an election of Supervisors of the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to be held in accordance with Chapter 940 of the Ohio Revised Code. Individuals who own or occupy land within the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District and are 18 years of age or older may vote for Supervisor. \n\n\n\nThere are three ways an eligible voter can cast a ballot: \n\n\n\n1. At the Richland SWCD office\, 1495 W. Longview Avenue\, Suite 205 B\, Mansfield\, from 8/9/2023 until 9/6/2023 during normal business hours or 9/7/2023 from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon; or \n\n\n\n2. At the Richland SWCD Annual Meeting\, which will take place at the Kehoe Center located at 175 Mansfield Avenue\, Shelby  on 9/7/2023 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. ; or \n\n\n\n3. Voting absentee from 8/9/2023 until 8/31/2023\, by requesting the ballot application and election ballot from the Richland SWCD office at the following address 1495 W. Longview Avenue\, Suite 205 B\, Mansfield\, by calling 419-747-8686\, or email election@richlandswcd.net. Absentee ballots must be received by the SWCD office by 9/7/2023 at 12 noon.                                     \n\n\n\nSupervisors will be elected to a three‐year term commencing January 1\, 2024 and ending December 31\, 2026. The Board of Supervisors create an annual and long-term plan of operation that protects the District’s mission and vision and are interested\, conservation-minded\, local leaders who promote conservation of the county’s natural resources through education\, planning and technical assistance which are key to the success of the District. Supervisors are elected to a three-year term as a public official and serve without pay.
