June 1:  Cost Share applications due. Apply for a cost share grant for rain barrels, native plants for rain gardens and soil tests.  Details and application are found here.

June 14: Conservation Creation Arts & Crafts Workshop: Felted Sheep, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Longview Center, 1495 W. Longview Avenue, Mansfield. Warm weather is creeping up on us, so it’s time we do a fun craft indoors with some natural materials! This month’s workshop is making needle felted sheep from wool. June 25: Family Fun Festival, 2 to 6 p.m., Malabar Farm State Park, 4050 Bromfield Rd., Lucas. Join Richland Soil and Water Conservation District, Malabar Farm, and a host of partners for this family-friendly event on the Farm. Free and open to the public.

July 12: Conservation Creation Arts & Crafts Workshop: Wood String Art, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Longview Center, 1495 W. Longview Avenue, Mansfield. It’s time to let your creative side show! Don’t pinch your fingers with this one: we’re making string art! Using nails and rustic wood pieces, we will make easy designs from string that will brighten up any home! $6.00 per person. August 7 to 13: Richland County Fair, 750 N. Home Rd., Mansfield, Stop by the Nature Park exhibit space from 11 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for interesting information, contests and giveaways on a variety of topics related to the environment, conservation, and wildlife.

August 9: Conservation Creation Arts & Crafts Workshop: Aviary Tea Party, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Longview Center, 1495 W. Longview Avenue, Mansfield. We love our feathered friends, so let’s throw them a party! For this workshop we’re going to make bird feeders out of saucers and teacups! October 1 to November 3: County-wide Milkweed Seed Pod Collection. Drop your Common Milkweed Seed Pods off at the Richland SWCD office, 1495 W. Longview Avenue, Suite 205B, Mansfield.

October 11: Conservation Creation Arts & Crafts Workshop: Corny Wreaths, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Longview Center, 1495 W. Longview Avenue, Mansfield. Come join us in a night of laughter, corny jokes, and wreath making! We will be making wreaths out of corn and their husks to add a bit of harvesting cheer as it gets colder! November 3: Annual Celebration, 6 to 8 p.m., Lexington Senior Civic Center.  Join Richland Soil and Water Conservation District as we celebrate conservation in Richland County. Board Supervisor election results, Cooperator of the Year and Volunteer of the Year award recipients announced, and Richland Soil and Water Conservation District achievements and updates will be shared.
